THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING BECOMING A VOLUNTEER!

Volunteers are a vital part of the efforts to help the animals in the shelters. Municipal shelters rarely have all the staff that they need to provide the ideal level of service that they wish to offer. Volunteers help to fill the gaps and provide much needed support which, in turn, helps animals in very impactful way. Even a couple of hours a week can make a huge difference in the life of the animals in the shelters.

The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is always looking for great volunteers at all six of it's shelters, the AV Adoption Center, or even their administrative offices. If you love animals and want to help, there is no end to the opportunities available. Just about any talent can be utilized for the betterment of the shelters and the well-being of the animals. Examples of areas where volunteers are needed include helping care for the animals; greeting and helping customers at the shelters; foster parenting; assisting at off-site adoption events; retaking photos of the animals or bathing to increase adoption appeal; or even clerical work to help in the volunteer office. You may even have some ideas that we hadn't thought of yet!
