Dr. Thomas L. Gibson
Dr. Thomas L. Gibson is the owner and operator of the Alameda Animal Hospital located in Compton, California. Since 1959, his animal veterinary hospital has served as a training facility for high school students seeking careers in veterinary medicine, veterinarians seeking internships, and foreign veterinarians seeking necessary training to apply for a California license to practice.
One of the highlights of Dr. Gibson's career was the opportunity to be included among a group of American veterinarians selected by the State Department to tour Western and Eastern European countries to exchange methods and procedures in veterinary medicine. Among the countries visited were Denmark, Russia, Sweden, Armenia and England. Dr. Gibson participated in a similar mission to China in March, 1999.
He is a member of the American Veterinary Medial Association, the California Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and past president of the Southeast chapter of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association, the largest chapter in the world.
Dr. Gibson has served the community where he practices as a personnel commissioner, Parks and Recreation commissioner, and past president of the Compton Unified School Board. Currently he serves on the Board of Trustees at Lemoyne-Owen College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry prior to Tuskegee Institute School of Veterinary Medicine. He serves on the Board of Trustees of his church and is active in other organizations such as the Sigma Phi Fraternity Xi Boule, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Los Angeles chapter of the National Guardsmen, where he served as treasurer.
Dr. Gibson and wife Patricia, celebrate the blessings of four wonderful children, Tony, Traci, Troy and daughter Terri, a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist who practices at her clinic, the American Animal Eye Care Center, located in La Habra, California.
